We build the control room for machines that act on their own.
Software now reads sensors, makes decisions, moves money and places orders. ConsciousLab gives the people responsible for those systems one place to see what is happening, decide what is allowed and step in when it matters.
Mission and vision
Mission
Make autonomous systems observable, governable and accountable, so organisations can trust them with real work.
Vision
Every machine that senses, reasons and acts is run from an instrument as precise as a flight deck, and every action it takes can be explained.
The story so far
We started with robots in one warehouse. The modules followed the questions our customers asked next.
- 2021
Founded in Berlin by Mira Okafor and Jonas Ehrlich to give warehouse robot fleets a single control room.
- 2022
First customer fleet of 140 AMRs in Rotterdam. Telemetry and remote control ship as the Robotics module.
- 2023
Agents that open work orders and pay suppliers lead to the AI and Payments modules. SOC 2 Type II.
- 2024
San Francisco office opens. Analytics unifies events across modules. ISO 27001 and PCI DSS Level 1.
- 2025
Trading launches after customers ask to manage treasury and hedging from the same surface. Series B.
- 2026
2,418 units, 184,000 agent runs a day and 1.28M orders routed daily across 14 regions.
Leadership
Engineers, researchers and operators from robotics, exchanges, payments and aviation.
Mira Okafor
Co-founder, CEO
Previously led the autonomy platform at a European logistics robotics company. Mechanical engineering, TU Munich.
Jonas Ehrlich
Co-founder, CTO
Built low-latency market infrastructure at a Frankfurt exchange for nine years. Distributed systems, ETH Zürich.
Priya Raman
Chief Scientist
Research on planning and tool use in language agents. Formerly a research lead at a London AI lab. PhD, University of Edinburgh.
Daniel Achterberg
VP Engineering
Scaled payments infrastructure from 40 to 400 engineers at a Berlin fintech. Owns reliability and the release train.
Lucía Ferrer
Chief Risk and Compliance Officer
Fifteen years in broker-dealer compliance and payments regulation across the EU and US. Former FINRA examiner.
Tomasz Wierzbicki
Head of Design
Designed flight-deck software for eVTOL aircraft and control rooms for grid operators. Believes every pixel is a reading.
Principles
How we make product and engineering decisions when the trade-offs are close.
- Show the evidence
- Every number on screen can be traced to the events that produced it. Every agent decision carries the inputs it used. If we cannot show why, we do not show it.
- Humans hold the switch
- Autonomy is earned per action, not granted per product. Policies decide what runs unattended, and the e-stop is never behind a policy.
- Precision over volume
- We would rather ship one instrument that is right than five that are approximately right. Units, timestamps and rounding are product decisions.
- Boring infrastructure
- Double-entry ledgers, append-only logs, signed firmware, idempotent APIs. The exciting part should be what you build on top.
Offices
142 people across two offices and nine countries. Most teams overlap for three hours a day.
